Matthew and Helen Olemisiko are Abby’s parents and local Maasai leaders. Matthew is a successful Maasai farmer and livestock owner and Helen manages their farm sales. In the early years of the school, they were at the school everyday with Matthew supervising construction and the school’s gardens and cropland and Helen making sure all the students and staff were well fed. They purchased and donated the original land that the school is built on. Produce from their farm farm supplied much of the school’s food initially and Matthew now supervises the school’s gardens, cropland, and livestock herd when Abby is not around. Matthew is the chairperson of the EEMPS school board.
