Partnerships
The Foundation hopes to establish partnerships with other organizations to support the construction and sustainable operation of the Engaruka English Medium School in Arusha Region, Tanzania. Our two current partners are:
- Engaruka Community Initiative Organization (ENCO), a registered NGO in Tanzania. Ms. Martha Olemisiko is the Executive Director of ENCO. The mission of ENCO is to provide services and programs to improve the lives of vulnerable women and children living in rural Maasai communities through sustainable programs that provide health services, education support and economic empowerment. ENCO has been asked by the Engaruka Community to oversee planning, construction and operation of the proposed Engaruka English Medium School. The Foundation will conduct most of its work in Tanzania in partnership with ENCO. We communicate with Martha on almost a daily basis via email, WhatsApp, and Skype voice and video conference.
- Service without Borders student organization (SWB is an interdisciplinary, student-led organization whose mission is to share the spirit of Virginia Tech’s motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), locally and globally by providing assistance to communities in need. SWB projects engage students in real-world design, project management, construction, marketing, fund raising, and cultural experiences. SWB adopted the Engaruka English Medium School as a program for the next five years. SWB will raise funds to support school construction and student travel expenses for trips to Engaruka to assist in construction and volunteer teaching.
